Wildflowers: A Short Film Advocating for Hope and Acceptance
"A poignant tale of resilience and love—dedicated to the Asian and LGBTQ+ communities, and addressing the external and internal battles against bullying with courage and compassion."
From the poem “ Wildflowers” : Bliss Tales , Second Edition
About the Film:
The Story Behind Wildflowers
"Wildflowers is a poetic short film that captures the delicate beauty of individuality amidst the challenges of societal judgment. Through the journey of its characters, the film sheds light on the struggles faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, while planting seeds of hope, acceptance, and understanding.
Rooted in personal experiences and inspired by the power of art to heal, Wildflowers is more than a film—it is a call to action, a reminder that beauty often grows in the most unexpected places."
Why This Film Matters
While Wildflowers sheds light on the bullying and discrimination faced by Asian and LGBTQ+ communities, it also serves as a gentle reminder of our shared responsibility. The journey toward acceptance begins not just in the external world but within ourselves—through the dialogues we hold in our minds, with our families, and in our communities.
By nurturing empathy and understanding in these intimate spaces, we plant the seeds of change that ripple outward, transforming not only the way we are seen but the way we see each other.

The Vision:
Wildflowers: A Glimpse into the Creative World
"Art has the power to transcend barriers. With your help, Wildflowers will come to life as a visually stunning exploration of growth, identity, and resilience.
Drawing from my poetic and artistic background, the visuals will reflect the emotional core of the story: blooming wildflowers against harsh environments—fragile, yet determined."
"In the quiet that follows, Violet’s journey reminds us that even in the stillness of an ending, there blooms the promise of renewal. The petals of her life, pressed gently between the pages of memory, carry whispers of joy, wonder, and grace. Bliss Tales invites us to linger not on the finality, but on the beauty that lingers—the love that was given, the stories that were shared, and the light that never truly fades."
About the Filmmaker
Genesis G. Ilada brings a distinctive and heartfelt perspective to Wildflowers. As an immigrant from the Philippines who relocated to the United States in 2001, Genesis has channeled her lived experiences into a lifelong dedication to artistic expression and mental health advocacy. Her journey through recurring depression has shaped her unwavering commitment to wellness, inclusion, and the transformative power of creativity.
Genesis began her professional journey in the nonprofit sector in Los Angeles, where she worked with Greater Avenues for Independence for over a decade, supporting vulnerable communities. Transitioning to a full-time creative career, she ventured into celebrity makeup artistry, fashion photography, and creative directing, earning international recognition for her work. Her passion for using art as a medium for social change was exemplified when she presented an award for diversity and inclusion at MIPCOM in Cannes, France.
A published poet, Genesis authored Bliss Tales (Dorrance Publishing), a deeply personal collection of poetry chronicling her mental health journey and holistic approach to well-being. Her work consistently reflects her belief in art’s capacity to inspire connection, foster understanding, and amplify marginalized voices.
Wildflowers is deeply rooted in Genesis’ own experiences as an artist and advocate. Her authentic exploration of mental wellness, her personal history of navigating identity and belonging, and her dedication to uplifting LGBTQ+ and Asian communities make her an inspiring and impactful leader for this project. Genesis’ vision for Wildflowers goes beyond storytelling—it’s a call to empathy, resilience, and collective action against bullying and discrimination.
